GrainCorp Community Fund

The GrainCorp Community Fund provides financial support to organisations and projects that contribute to the development of local communities in grain-growing regions.

HOW THE COMMUNITY FUND WORKS

The GrainCorp Community Fund will provide funds towards projects on a ‘milestone’ basis. Organisation will receive half of the dedicated funds at the initial stage of the project, and the other half once a significant ‘milestone’ has been achieved.

The Community Fund will make funds available as either:

  • A direct grant – funds are received shortly after the successful applicant has been notified.
  • A partnership grant – the GrainCorp Community Fund will match to a specified maximum amount, dollar for dollar, funds that a community can raise towards a project.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

  • A successful applicant will receive an initial payment of 50% of the amount awarded.
  • On submission of a progress report and a plan for promoting the completion/opening of a project, GrainCorp will pay the recipient the remaining balance of the original amount awarded.

CRITERIA FOR FUNDING ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for GrainCorp funding, the organisation or project must meet the following criteria:

Projects-

  • Be based within grain growing regions in which GrainCorp operates or regions that are otherwise linked to grain growing activities; and
  • Have a positive effect on local communities in rural and regional areas; and
  • Fall within one of four key areas:
    • Education
    • Health and Safety
    • Youth development
    • Community development; and
  • Demonstrate active involvement of one or more GrainCorp employees in the submission and application process; and
  • Build on the initiative and potential of people and contribute to the development of their communities.

Organisations must demonstrate-

  • Initiative and energy in raising funds locally
  • Financial accountability
  • How their project contributes towards community development
  • Provide a plan that clearly defines the manner in which an award from the Fund will be promoted.

ORGANISATIONS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING

The GrainCorp Community Fund will not contribute to:

  • Projects that are primarily the responsibility of Government at any level, or where the Government could be reasonably expected to provide principal funding
  • Projects promoted by political or religious organisations (with the exception of schools), or that are religious or political in nature
  • Projects or organisations that are essentially commercial in nature
  • National projects.

Applications for funding will only be considered if the project or organisation is supported by one or more GrainCorp employees in the submission and application process. Please include quotes for the work/ equipment required with your application.
