The Allied Mills of today is a leading food ingredient and retail food product manufacturer with the latest facilities, technology and access to resources. It is one of Australia’s largest manufacturers and distributors of flour, bakery pre-mixes, frozen dough products, batters and coatings, binders and specialty grains and food services ingredients. Allied Mills processes up to 800,000 tonnes of high protein and soft milling wheat and other grains each year.
Allied Mills customers are supplied through a national network of seven flour mills located in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, a bakery pre-mix plant (Kingsgrove, New South Wales) and a network of distribution warehouses.
In December 2008, Allied Mills commissioned a new $97 million flour and maize mill at Picton, southwest of Sydney (New South Wales).
In the same year, Allied Mills acquired a frozen dough factory in Yatala (Queensland) that produces doughnuts and related products under a long-term supply agreement with a major Australian franchise chain, as well as a range of frozen dough products for the food service and retail sectors.
Allied Mills has more than 600 employees across Australia.
GrainCorp plays an important role in procuring, storing and transporting grain for Allied Mills, supplying around 400,000 tonnes of wheat and corn per annum, plus coordinating rail and road logistics services.
