GrainCorp operates seven of the eight bulk export grain elevators in eastern Australia. 

The export elevators handle wheat, barley, canola, chickpeas, and sorghum. These are delivered by both rail and road, from GrainCorp and third party storages, as well as direct from on-farm storage.GrainCorp operates three container-packing facilities at Fisherman Islands, Sunshine (Melbourne) and Geelong. The Portland, Geelong, and Fisherman Islands elevators also handle up to 1.5 million tonnes of woodchips per year.

Shipping Stem and Elevation Capacity


Pursuant to the obligations of port terminal service providers under the bulk wheat export accreditation scheme established under the Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008 (Act), GrainCorp will publish ‘Shipping Stem’ information on its website each business day in accordance with Section 24(4) of the Act and the Port Terminal Protocols described below.

The information contained on this page and the shipping stem details provided comply with Section 24 of the Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008.

Export Cargo Nomination


All Cargo Nomination Applications (CNA) should be made according to the requirements of the GrainCorp Port Protocols and lodged using the online platform.

 

ACCC Port Access Undertaking


Pursuant to the obligations of port terminal service providers under the bulk wheat export accreditation scheme established under the Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008 (Act), GrainCorp submitted to the ACCC an Undertaking to provide access to bulk wheat export terminals by individuals or organisations accredited by Wheat Exports Australia to legally export bulk wheat.

The ACCC accepted GrainCorp's most recent Undertaking in June 2011.

Undertaking to Provide Access to Grain Port Services

GrainCorp will provide port services to all accredited bulk wheat exporters for the export of bulk wheat from ports owned by GrainCorp at Mackay, Gladstone, Brisbane (Fisherman Islands), Newcastle (Carrington), Port Kembla, Geelong, and Portland.

GrainCorp will provide accredited bulk wheat exporters with details of their terms and conditions for its port services including:

  • - process for nominating and accepting of vessels;
  • - receival of wheat at a port;
  • - storage and handling of wheat at a port;
  • - ship loading services from a port.

GrainCorp will make these terms and conditions available to accredited bulk wheat exporters, as amended from time to time, on the GrainCorp website.

2011/12 Port Services Agreements – Wheat and Bulk Grain

 

Access Agreement Executed with GrainCorp Marketing

Clause 5.5 (c) of the Undertaking requires GrainCorp to provide to the ACCC a copy of the Access Agreement with GrainCorp Marketing within five days of execution. GrainCorp is not required by the Undertaking to publish this Agreement, however has elected to do so voluntarily.

 

 

Port Protocols

Application for Services


If a customer requests GrainCorp to load wheat on a vessel at a port terminal owned by GrainCorp, the customer must nominate a cargo for loading at a Port Terminal by submitting a Cargo Nomination Application (CNA) form.

The Port Protocols outline procedures for nominating a cargo and accepting or declining a Cargo Nomination Application.

All notices and applications pursuant to a CNA must be directed to GrainCorp in the manner described in the Protocols.

GrainCorp is required under the regulated terms of access to its port elevators, to publish a set of Protocols that determine the manner in which services are provided at the company's port elevators.

 

2011/12 Port Protocols


The Port Protocols modified and published on 3 November 2011 came into effect from 1 December 2011, and will be used to manage all bookings on the 2011/12 shipping stem.
