Quality Assurance and Pest Control
GrainCorp provides a quality assurance (QA) system that covers organisational, customer and regulatory requirements.
The system is aimed at driving consistency in our goods and service offerings with an emphasis on innovation and improvement.
This is primarily done via our certified Quality Management System. Our system is certified by NATA Certification Systems International (NCSI) to ISO9001 standards which cover all our relevant business activities in grain receival, storage, outturn, logistics, laboratories, food safety and marketing.
In addition, we also hold ISO17025 laboratory accreditation in country laboratories for a range of standard tests and are responsible for environmental activities, systems and processes.
Pest control is a cornerstone of our storage and logistics operations—if we do not control pests we will have poor food security processes and dissatisfied customers.
Hygiene and pest control applies to all of our country and port networks and forms part of our QA system.
To control insects, weeds, birds and rodents, we have established and maintained hygiene standards for our plants. These are backed up by pest control systems that cover requirements across food safety, customer and regulatory areas.
GrainCorp uses the latest pest control approaches and technologies including integrated pest management (IPM), fumigation and controlled atmospheres. GrainCorp also funds and participates in research activities in grain post-harvest activities via the Plant Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre (PBCRC).
