A shared passion
Serviceton to become GrainCorp’s newest silo art canvas
November 05, 2025

The small town of Serviceton, in Victoria’s West Wimmera region, is preparing for a big splash of colour – becoming the 19th town to join GrainCorp’s acclaimed silo art program.

With the first lick of paint expected this week, Adelaide-based artist Jack Fran will transform the GrainCorp silos into a large-scale mural that celebrates Serviceton’s character and community pride.

GrainCorp, which has supported silo art projects across Queensland, NSW and Victoria for close to a decade, is committed to growing regional storytelling through the iconic silo art trail phenomenon.

“We’re excited to see the GrainCorp Serviceton silos join our program and the growing Australian Silo Trail, and continue to contribute to regional storytelling through the public art phenomenon,” says GrainCorp Community Engagement Manager, Kyle Docherty

“The Serviceton community and West Wimmera Shire Council have shown remarkable dedication and passion throughout this process, and we’re proud to work together on an initiative that strengthens local identity and encourages regional tourism.”

Artist Jack Fran, who has created large-scale public artworks across Australia, is looking forward to working with the Serviceton community.

“I’m excited to get started and help tell Serviceton’s story through art,” says Jack.

“These projects are always a collaboration with the community, and I’m keen to reflect the pride and character of the town in the mural.”

The Serviceton project is being coordinated by ArtAid, the creative team behind the Kaniva silo art mural, and has received strong support from the West Wimmera Shire Council.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout says the mural will be a meaningful addition to the region.

“Serviceton has a strong sense of identity and community pride, and this mural will reflect that beautifully,” David says.

“Silo art has become a powerful way for small towns to share their stories, attract visitors and celebrate what makes them unique.”

The Serviceton mural will complement nearby murals at GrainCorp’s Goroke and Kaniva silos, which have already brought many visitors and cultural and economic benefits to the Wimmera Mallee region.

Once complete, the Serviceton mural will also form part of the growing collection of GrainCorp silo art projects in eastern Australia – each a unique celebration of local stories, pride and community spirit.
